Josh Turner

Josh Turner went from Freelance CFO to the founder of Linked Selling, a booming B2B firm specializing in fully outsourced LinkedIn lead generation campaigns. Josh is one of the leading LinkedIn experts in the world today, and he’s in the Opichi DIY Marketing guest chair to tell you a few secrets as well. Both hailing from Missouri, Josh Turner and I have an fantastic conversation, you’ll hear some outstanding social network advice, and he gives us some of his favorite resources. Check it out!

Not only does Josh give us a great interview, but he’s giving copies of his new book, Connect (which is basically Linked Selling’s own playbook as to how they tripled their revenue every year for the last 3 years), away to Opichi listeners for FREE! Sweet, right?! Just go to www.theconnectbook.com/opichi and you can sign up to get your own free physical copy AND take advantage of one of Josh’s LinkedUniveristy courses for absolutely free. At the risk of sounding like an infomericial–heaven forbid–you can get this course valued at $197 for free! Opichi listeners, I’M signing up a free $197 course. And I’m getting his book. There’s no way I’m missing this opportunity!

For some other digestible resources, a few books that Josh highly recommends are Gary Vaynerchuk’s CRUSH IT!, Chet Holmes’ The Ultimate Sales Machine: Turbocharge Your Business with Relentless Focus on 12 Key Strategies, and Finish Big: How Great Entrepreneurs Exit Their Companies on Top by Bo Burlingham, all available for purchase through those links on Amazon Kindle, or if you’re more an audio person, you can download the audiobooks of Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion, The Ultimate Sales Machine, and Finish Big: How Great Entrepreneurs Exit Their Companies on Top here through Audible.com.

We deviated from the show formula a bit and I asked Josh a question geared directly towards his expertise: What are top marketers doing to drive more traffic with LinkedIn than any other source?

  1. Content Distribution: Sharing your information with your groups. It’s a low hanging fruit to drive traffic to your website, your content blogs, landing pages, etc.
  2. Publishing on Linked In (Pulse): Long form articles you can now publish on LinkedIn. The Editors curate some of the best articles, and if your articles get featured, your name and influence can really blow up. The audience on LinkedIn is so much larger than some people’s blogs will ever be, so it’s a great platform to reach more readers.
  3. LinkedIn Ads: Sponsored updates are LinkedIn’s version of Facebook Homepage ads; your sponsored updates can show up in the feed of many people’s LinkedIn page.

Josh Turner’s parting piece of advice is

“No matter what size business you are, try new things. Every month we look at trying some big, new, marketing thing, and whether that’s an internal project or outsourcing something, the way I look at it is if one out of every three of those new initiatives we look at from a marketing standpoint pans out, then it’ll be a long term success. Then we’ve got more growth that will come as a result of that.”
